The Sacrament of Confirmation is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation in the Catholic Church, completing a person’s initiation into the faith. Through this sacrament, a baptised Catholic is sealed with the Holy Spirit, strengthened in their faith, and empowered to live as a witness of Christ in the world. During the rite, the bishop (or priest) lays hands on the candidate and anoints their forehead with chrism oil, saying, “Be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit.” Confirmation deepens the gifts first received at Baptism, strengthens the bond with the Church, and equips the person with the courage, wisdom, and love needed to live out their faith fully.
Celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation
Confirmation will be celebrated in term 3, 2026 the dates to note are listed below.
Formation evening
The formation session is designed to bring parents and child together to explore the meaning of the Confirmation.
Date: Tuesday 21st July 2026
Time: 5.45pm for 6.00pm start
Venue: Nazareth Church, Grovedale.

Time: 5.45pm for 6.00pm start
Venue: St Therese Church, Torquay.
Rite of Enrolment Mass
Your child’s preparation for the Sacrament begins with the Rite of Enrolment Mass. Please attend any one of the following Masses:
- Saturday 16th May 2026 at 6pm at St Christopher’s Church, Anglesea
- Sunday 17th May 2026 at 9am at St Therese Church, Torquay
- Sunday 17th May 2026 at 11am at Nazareth Church, Grovedale
- Sunday 17th May 2026 at 5pm at St Therese Church, Torquay
Celebrating the Sacrament
This year, Confirmation will be held on a Saturday afternoon. When you fill in your registration below you will be asked to select the corresponding Mass that aligns with your childs school. If the date does not suit, please make contact with the parish and we can discuss alternative options with you.

Levy
A $75 levy for each candidate is required to cover the administration costs associated with the Sacrament, and is paid directly to the Parish.
