Nazareth Catholic Parish

The registration for Confirmation is now open for all Parish children who have previously received the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, and First Holy Eucharist within the Catholic Church. Our Parish looks forward to celebrating this important milestone with your child in their journey of faith.

Candidates for Confirmation must be in Year 6 and above. If you wish to enrol your child in the preparation for Confirmation, attendance of all the following is required.

Parents and candidate only must attend one of these workshops.

Date:                                     Monday 31^st July 2023

Time and Venue:                  4:45pm for 5.00pm start – Nazareth Church, Grovedale

OR

Date:                                     Tuesday 1^st August 2023

Time and Venue:                 6.45pm for 7.00pm start – St Therese Church, Torquay

 

The Rite of Enrolment Mass takes place within the context of a weekend Mass with the rest of the parish community, at which candidates will be called forward for their prayer of commitment and blessing. Candidates and their families are asked to attend one of the following Masses.

Saturday 26^th August 6.00pm – St Christopher’s Church, Anglesea

Sunday 27^th August 8.45am – St Therese Church, Torquay

Sunday 27^th August 10.30am – Nazareth Church, Grovedale

 

The Sacrament of Confirmation will be conferred by our Bishop Martin Ashe

Tuesday 12^th September 5.00pm – at St Therese Church, Torquay (mainly for Lisieux PS, St Catherine PS and parish candidate students)

Tuesday 12^th September 6.30pm – at St Therese Church, Torquay (mainly for St Therese PS students)

Wednesday 13^th September at 6.00pm – Nazareth Church, Grovedale (mainly for Nazareth PS students)

 

A fee of $50 for each candidate to help cover the administration costs associated with the Sacramental program, including guest speakers. This fee is paid directly to the Parish.

Payment can be made via EFTPOS available at the door on the Family Evening. Please come early to make the payment to ensure we start the session on time. This payment is due by Tuesday 1st August.

The Sacrament of Confirmation is a Sacrament of Initiation, along with Baptism and Eucharist. It is the sacrament  which strengthens the work already begun in Baptism, and which is continually fed and nourished in the Eucharist.  It is a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit to the individual, transforming them into Apostles, capable of living the works of the Gospel rather than simply being hearers of the Gospel.
